This is one subject I have thought a lot about, written a lot about, and
even done a conference session about, because I went back to work when each
of my babies was 3 months old. My older child weaned 4 months shy of her
4th birthday, and my almost 2-1/2 year old son is still nursing. I was
tandem nursing while working full-time for nearly 2 years. My regular
question about all of this isn't "how will I do this" but "why am I the only
one I know who is doing this?" I am a clarinet player in an Army Band, on
active duty in the military. I would not say that my breastfeeding has been
easy or without obstacles at work.

I think this lack of information and support for working and breastfeeding
is unique to the U.S and cultures like ours. Big Business refuses to
realize that promotion of breastfeeding and accomodations for their
employees will actually improve their bottom lines, not hurt them.

I have a lot to say about this subject and will be happy to, on or off-list
as is appropriate.
