Donna, if this mom's only problem is that she can't read as well, she
doesn't need to get a new prescription, just some reading glasses in the
pharmacy. At least in the US we have reading glasses. This is what I use,
as my ophthamologist said that is what he uses for reading.

By the way, has she tried reading *without* her glasses? Once, when my life
took a turn for the better, I found it hard to read the newspaper. I
thought I might have to get a stronger lens. Then I took off my glasses and
could read fine--even could read the phone book without glasses for about a
week. Then life returned to *normal* and I had to find the glasses again.
