Cathy says it all...and I agree that it is a long time before we have the
whole picture. It is very interesting that things we thought were true, then
thought were not true, are now true again....And with new information we will
be rethinking so much we know to be true now. And that is the point of my
original post...not the information itself, and what is and is not correct,
but that it is changing rapidly and not everyone is keeping up and even those
that want to....well, what we read and what we see may not always match
up...remember the nipple shield debates? I remember when you were a failure
if you "used a shield" to help a mom...now we all know they have benefits as
well as risks...I see the new information coming about the reality of the
physiology of the female breast, the production of milk, etc. as the
beginning of the new knowledge...The outcome is no where near here, like
Cathy says, this is only the beginning. I also think it is a good thing we
recert in this field....after 10 years much of what we knew will be "what we
thought" and there will be an entire new way of thinking! How exciting!!

<But the entire
<picture is a long way off. I think its always important to change our
<practice as learn new things and to continue with what seems to work until
<we learn otherwise (if this practice always falls within the premise of "do
<no harm").
