With the parents' permission, I am asking for information on eventual breastfeeding for a baby with esophageal atresia and Trisomy 21.  The baby is now three weeks and had G-tube placement the day after birth.  She is gaining steadily on pumped milk.
She will have surgery to create a gastric pouch, but not for a couple of months.  The mom is a very experienced breastfeeder and is producing about 1000ml/24 hours.  
The baby's physician has prepared the mother for difficulty with  post-surgical oral feeds, but suggested that she plan to directly breastfeed rather than bottle feed.  The baby has pretty serious oral aversion and will not suck a pacifier now.
Has anyone worked with a similar mom and baby?  I am experienced with the Trisomy 21, but not the other problem.
