The information about the *drop* in progesterone level causing the alveolar
cells becoming sensitive to the action of prolactin comes from Dr. Peter
Hartmann in Perth Australia.

The point is that this physician believes the drug company. Boy, we trust
them like crazy as if they would never say anything incorrect. Maybe only
*some* mothers are affected and that does not show up in the studies. Maybe
the studies were not done on mothers and babies given the injections
immediately after birth, as they probably weren't since this is not the
practice in most civilized countries (sorry, couldn't resist). And maybe
the studies were done by people who know nothing about breastfeeding.

What is the rush to give depoprovera? The mother is not going to get
pregnant in the first six weeks even if the episiotomy does not inhibit the
trying.
