Yes, I agree that staying out of the conversation was the best course. I
just think of all the lengths we go to to--to educate our staff and to still
hear such a "cavalier" attitude...... The nurse speaking to the younger
nurse has a baby that is 6-months-old. I just hope the younger nurse is
open to actually *hear* the best available information when she becomes a
mother for the first time.

I often say that both my son-in-laws were *cheerfully*, yet seriously
informed that my daughters would be breastfeeding when they had babies. My
daughters also feel there would be no other way to feed their babies.

The most surprising is the nurse who had her third baby, seems to be
extremely supportive of us whenever she works on the floor, yet chose to
have her baby "fed-in". (..........and surprise, surprise, asked for our
help because he wasn't breastfeeding well!)

Well, it's too bad that things can't be as simple as everyone breastfeeding
and having faith in the process.

Thanks for allowing me to vent!

Connie Chiavario, IBCLC
