myself but that sounds really good. The baby is doing the classic good
feeds during the day and then by 6pm starts to get more demanding and then
feed more frequently and up to hourly at night.
I have talked to her about correct attachment and by the sounds of it her
nipples were a bit sore and are ok now. He has been like this at night most
of the time and she is getting worried about her milk supply. >>

Sally,
Have you asked about her breasts feeling full before and then softer after
feedings? About gulping and swallowing? Unless you have some good reason to
suspect low supply, I would suggest breast compression first as well as
sleeping with the baby (if she is not doing so, this would, of course, make
the night seem much longer and the baby might be trying to keep her close).
Do you think these are just cluster feeds at night? Also, the antibiotics
could be upsetting his tummy and he may just be fussy and uncomfortable, in
which case, I would suggest she drink fennel tea and take acidophoulos (high
bifidus content) carbo veg homeopathically. Also, iron pills could be
upsetting. I usually suggest that moms drink liquid chlorophyll to treat
anemia. It works much better and faster and has very high nutritional value
and doesn't upset anyone's stomach. I would also alert her to all the warning
signs for thrush.
