I'm not a professional (closest thing is that I'll be a LLL Leader Applicant
as of May). I did want to comment on my own situation with regards to
weight gain & breast feeding success. I'm assuming that article is talking
about women who keep on the weight. If that's the case then my situation
doesn't really count since I did lose most of my weight.
I'm 5'7" and was 128# pre-pregnancy. I gained about 40# during the
pregnancy. I lost all but 10# within 3 weeks of birth. I'm still carrying
that 10# but I fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes. Of the weight I gained,
9#12oz was the baby. I had to pump to bring in my supply (baby was on
ventilator for five days) and I got about 3 oz per side in 15 minutes of
pumping [single pumping]. I know that I have an abundant supply now. My
son recently had heart surgery and I had to pump during the time he was
fasting/in surgery. I got 8 oz. per breast in about 5 minutes [double
pumping].
Like I said, the article probably means women who gained weight and stayed
heavy but in case anyone wanted to know about abundant weight gain,
appropriate weight loss post partum & milk supply there's my story.
