I am convinced that there is a genetic component to this.

My grandmother not only breastfed her children, but pumped milk and sold it
to the local hospital to be fed to the premie and ill babies.

My mother breastfed her children for about a year each.

Two of my sisters (the third doesn't have children) and I also breastfed
ours.

In every case, we had our first post-partum menstrual period within four to
six weeks of giving birth.

I tandem-nursed all but my first child, so in three out of four cases I was
breastfeeding both a toddler and a baby. I thought for sure that would stop
my periods, but it didn't. No pacifiers, no bottles, lots of night feedings
(I was sleeping with both baby and toddler).

I will be interested to see what happens with my daughter!
