Hey all,

A mom recently contacted me needed help. She is currently breastfeeding her
9 month old son and is commited to nursing him until he weans himself. A
month ago, she discovered a lump - no pain, no signs of mastitis, etc. Went
to her midwife who ordered an ultrasound and then a mammogram.

Based on the info received fom these tests, she has been diagnosed with an
adnoma. The midwife seems to think it is somehow related to breast feeding.
THe radiologist has recommended needle aspiration so she's made an
appointment with a surgeon.

Her concern is how, if at all this will affect breastfeeding. She is, in her
own words "hestiant to mess with the equipment" and is concerned about the
expertise of the surgeon.and concerned that he may downplay the significance
of needle
aspiration or anything else in terms of recommended treatment. She mentioned
the possibility of the tumor needing to be removed surgically.

i did a search in the archives and found only one post regarding adnoma. It
was also a request for info.

I'll readily admit that this is outside my area of expertise....does this
sound like a reasonable course of action for this mom? Any thoughts,
theories and professional info and advice would be appreciated.
