One of the coolest versions of tongue-tie is when mom doesn't hurt, but baby takes forever to feed.  Snip the frenum, and suddenly feeds are a third as long, which I'm sure delights both mother *and* baby - it's no fun getting your food by eating one grain of rice at a time.  You have to keep doing it all day long to get enough, and even at that, your stomach is never really full even if your total calories are adequate.
