Well, I saw the mom with the really painful, chronically painful nipples
today instead of waiting until tomorrow. The last time I saw baby was when
I was teaching an infant massage class. Baby was about 4 months old and
refused to let me put my finger in her mouth. Today, she was more than
happy to chew on my finger and play with it. :-) Pretty cute actually.

Anyway, she is definitely still TT - in fact, if I didn't know it had
already been clipped I'd have thought it just got missed - but it is clearly
a classic TT. The odd thing tho was this little one's palate. It has a
ridge running down the center of it. I wish I could get a picture of this
because it is so different. This is a major player in moms nipple pain.
The only way to describe what it looks/feels like is: try to picture when
an artist draws a bird flying in the background. You see no detail other
than the wings have a gentle curve up, over, down to a point, then up and
over again.

I sent her back to the gal who works on all of my babies. I talked to her
first and asked her why this would have happened. She said that most likely
the palatal bones did not close all the way and that the triangular bone
above the palatal bones dropped down to fill the gap - yes, she believes she
can work with this. She is amazing! I will be very interested to see how
this one turns out. If I can have had anything to do with getting this
mommy pain free nursing I will be so happy!

Mom also has some vasospasms and I believe may have a low-level staph
infection that never quite cleared. We are also investigating those
possibilities.

Thanks to those who responded.much appreciated!

Warmly,

Jaye
