Just watched.

Amy Spandler did a wonderful job, much better prepared, eloquent and
forceful in her message than Dr. Johnson, so much so that the host had to
cut her off to let the item be "balanced" by letting Dr. Johnson speak.

I thought the most interesting comment was toward the end, by Dr. Johnson,
who hypothezied that if a mom had a bad breastfeeding outcome, that "mom
would feel guilty, and that falls into the pediatrician's lap" (close to
his exact words as I took notes).

I don't think he realized what he said - of course he meant that the ped.
would have to do the emotional mop-up. But the real truth is, the guilt of
not being successful at breastfeeding, is the partially the ped's fault and
responsibility.

What is missing in this media contraversy - is the voice of mothers
themselves. That's what was great about the ad campaign, the extentive use
of focus groups with all kinds of women. How this issue should be decided,
is by the moms (the customers).
