I have permission from client to post:
I am working with a new mom, (first baby) who has inverted nipples. They aren't inverted in the center but on the side. She wore a back brace for scoliosis from age 7 thru her teen years. When her breasts started developing, the straps were moved down from the breast area. I'm thinking that this support strap damaged her nipples during puberty. Now she's struggling with the baby latching. We started out with a nipple shield but that's not working either. Right now we're dealing with treating engorgement. She some milk with pumping but still not ejecting milk like she should at 5 days PP. I'm not sure this baby will ever be able to latch successfully. Anyone ever seen a problem like this before? Thanks, Carol Leonard
