Hi Tina, 

As Jan wrote, I guess an tight lingual frenum could tear from a fall or such. More likely, however, would be tearing of a tight labial frenum since it is more exposed. My g'children all have slightly low attachment of the labial frenum. One of the children fell and that was fixed for him.
