     Great idea for Mom to be pumping to stimulate her supply.  What
about the baby's mouth, does the tongue extend over the gum and lip for a
good latch?  I often tell parents it is the one time in our lives when it
is polite tostick out the tongue--when we are babies-- and the mouth
should be widely open like a yawn with tongue sticking out for a good
latch, so I would suspect tongue tie.  Also the MOm can try breast
compression during feedings (check out Jack Newman's web page) to
stimulate let downs and hindmilk.  The Mom may benefit from knowing about
"cluster feedings"--that babies sometimes want/need to nurse q 1 hour,
then will nap for a while afterward, this is a very common pattern.
Babies sometimes want "3" sides, too, and the breast is more a productive
gland than a storage gland and Mom need not fear the breast is "empty" if
baby nursed from that side 20 min. ago, actually the additional
stimulation will help her supply.  The galactogogues are worth a try.
The baby may have a disorganized suck and just need some time.  Maybe the
Mom can try a teeny weenie piece  of tape for the feeding tube?????
Paper tape???  Most parents seem most comfortable with bottles as a
supplementation method, Kathleen Huggins mentioned that at the BSC
conference last June, and it seems to be so with most parents I have
dealt with too.
     Keep us posted.  I'm glad she is getting good help from you and more
accurate breastfeeding information!
