I have to agree with previous posters - Jan Barger's "Baby's Second Night"
is one of the most useful handouts ever for new parents, imho. I give it
out prenatally, on day one if possible but sometimes only after the second
night. As to educating staff - I wish!! They still tell mothers that their
babies are "hungry bunnies" - makes moms feel inadequate.

Have just joined the ranks of *grandmother*. My son and his wife had a
drug-free birth with the support of a doula. Paediatrician needs serious
up-dating, but dil is informed and assertive. Have just returned from
Toronto where my daughther is pregnant - lovely break and an antidote to
severe burnout. Brought back Catherine Genna's book - looking forward to
reading it. It's good to be back on Lactnet.
