I don't think I will ever get through to some of the docs I work with. Last
week one told a mom that relactating was too stressful and that he thought
she would do better to put the child on formula. GAG ME.. This is the mom
who had severe ductal thrush and severe pain with it; pain not relieved by
Vicodan and she has already relactated once. Her supply plummeted when she
went back to work; partially because her boss didn't follow the disability
orders and placed her on 3 days in a row. And she is pumping in the
employee restroom at the Waterfront H***** Hotel. Any way she has done all
this work and felt all this pain and tells her to just quit---its too
stressful. This is a mom with severe asthma. What about her stress when the
baby is in the hospital in respiratory distress. UGH!

Well, I decided that Cathy B. was right, women have probably relactated under
worse circumstances and so I adopted a more positive attitude. Thanks Cathy!
With this in mind, I came up with the suggestion that mom post a note of
sorts on the restroom door while pumping with the estimated time of
cessation. Then those needing to use the restroom could choose to use it
later or at the very least be prepared to see what pumping looks like. Mom
liked the suggestion. She then told me that her "nice boss" said she could
take a 30 minute break 3 times during a shift. And she decided she would
tell the "mean boss" that, that is what she has to do and if he didn't like
it too bad!

So we will see how this weekend goes and if she is still having trouble we
will try to see if her OB is willing to put her back on disability.
