Noreen,

An increasing number of hospitals are starting to use donor milk in their full and late preterm nurseries. A couple of years ago, our milk bank started a listserv for those working on donor milk use in full/late preterm nurseries. It’s been a great forum to discuss and share protocols and other concerns. If you’d like to be added to the list, please email Ann Marie Lindquist <[log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>> and she’ll add your name.

Please do NOT reply to Lactnet, we may miss it and it’ll clog up everyone’s email inboxes.

Naomi

Subject: Donor milk on postpartum unit

I am looking for information on providing donor milk on mom/baby units. Our hospital will begin providing donor milk to families on our mom/baby unit in January and we are in the process of writing up protocols and policies for this new endeavor. Part of our discussion about policy is criteria for providing donor milk. I did a search of the archives and most of the discussion revolves around NICU population. I would be grateful to hear from anyone (or others with advice/information) about this process. Please feel free to contact me at the email below.

Thank you,
