Hi all,
I am somewhat new to this forum. I am posting this for a friend of mine
with her permission. She has a nursing 2 year old who has always had latch
issues despite a lot of breastfeeding support from IBCLC's. Recently she
experienced a deep, achy pain behind her left breast while nursing on that
side which subsided after her daughter stopped nursing. In the the middle
of the night she was awakened by sharp pains in her chest, back and
shoulder. Her husband, a nurse, evaluated her for heart attack (just in
case!) and they called the ER. Heart attack was ruled out, she took an
aspirin and was able to go back to sleep. When her daughter woke to nurse
a few hours later (again on the left side), the pain came back instantly.
Could this be vasospasms? Any other ideas as to what could be causing this
pain? Thanks!
