Hi All,
Thought that since I have been away for a while, and there seem to be many
new "faces", I'd do another intro.
My name is Janet Simpson, but PLEASE call me Jay. All my friends do, and I
consider the folks on this list friends. I have been a CLE since 1995,
worked for WIC as a peer counselor and crisis BF counslor, and ran their
pump program for just over a year.
I have 3 sons, Chris 12.5 yrs (BF for 14 mo), Benjamin 3.5 yrs (BF for 37
mo), and Patrick Jay 11.5 mo (named after mom, can you tell? and of course
still BF!). I have been married to my KISA (Knight In Shining Armor) since
1993, his name is Dave.
I run a pump rental station and offer counseling to moms on many levels. I
do not do hands on consults because I am just a CLE and have had no real (or
adequate) training for the stuff that requires hands on. (does that make
sense?) SO when a mom needs more than I am comfortable giving, I refer her
to the ladies with the long set of letters after their names. :)
I have a great set of mentors here in Sacramento (and also here on
Lactnet!). One of my mentors is on Lactnet now (Hi Karen!) and she is the
one who got me the info back in 1995 on how to join Lactnet (Thanks Karen!).
I plan on taking the exam to become an IBCLC myself someday. Was hoping for
this year, but probably will not make it. With the kids so young, and time
so short, I feel that it is important to give to the kids as much as I can
right now. Heck, I'm only 20 yrs old (HA! Add 12 yrs to that...) I am
still young so I can afford to bide my time. :D
Want to let all you newcomes know that this group is really great. They
have been more of a family to me in the past almost 3 years than my real
family. That doesn't say much for my real family, huh? Oh well. You can
choose your friends, but you can't choose your family. Sigh...
Well, I guess that is enough of an intro for now. I look forward to
chatting your ears off again, and throwing in my .02 now and then. :)
Love to all!
Jay
