I'm not sure I always buy into the role of bf women as victims. IMO, at some
point learning to advocate for yourself and your child (for the next two
decades) is essential. What on earth would this receptionist have done if
the mom had just plunked herself down and nursed? What does her doc think of
all this. A nice 'thank you for being so rude to me" card with a copy a
summarization of the AAP bf policy (like the one that June Winfield and Pat
Bull put together a couple of years ago) with appropriate directions
highlighted might be more than due...and of course, a cc to the doc with an
explanation. If some of the situations that women experience while
breastfeeding in public were tackled with the same fervor as "bra burning"
just mere decades ago, we might reap a few benefits.
