You have gone straight to the heart of this very controversial topic. The options are strong and varied on both sides of the issue. You may want to search the LACTNET archives for more discussion on this topic. (LOTS more)
But, for now, you may find it helpful to:
Have the mother check with her local Health Department. Many state WIC programs are now offering pumps to mom's. With the new income guidelines effective April 2002, she may be eligible... even if she was not before.
