The Harvard Nurse's study is seriously lawed b/c it did not look at the
following (1) ABM supplements; (2) early intro of food which was very
common in past decades; (3) scheduling of feeds and (4) the length of
time the nurses breastfed. (This is from memory so it's possible I"m
wrong on #4). Also, the study did not rule out breastfeeding as a
protective factor--it said more research was needed. Yet, this study has
been used to conclude that BF does not offer a protective effect. Our
local hospital sent out a mailing that is was "a myth" that BF gave
protective effect. I wrote a long response.
