The standard 'wisdom' on this, in the UK, is that women who are hiv positive
should have an elective cesarian section, and antiretroviral therapy during
pregnancy, or, minimum, during delivery.

I have long wondered why no one interested in birth is challenging the
variety of assumptions around the c-section research.  At least with
breastfeeding there is some questioning going on.

I would also return to the point (made my George Kent) that the point is not
so much prevention of hiv transmission but health outcomes.
