In the fabulous book, Case Studies in Lactation Consulting (Cadwell and  
Turner-Maffei), there is a case study on growth faltering, Several cases where a  
baby's growth starts to falter around 4 months have been associated with a  
mother with a history of gastric bypass who stopped taking the special  
supplements she needs. B-12 was deficient in the milk.
 
Many mothers will switch to their prenatal vitamins and keep taking them  
after delivery instead resuming of the special post-gastric bypass  supplements. 
Sometimes the gastric bypass supplements are liquid, for easier  absorption 
(this was told to me by a mother).  
 
This is a new area of nutrition that needs exploration.
