On MOBI there has been an interesting thread lately. Women have been
discussing what herbs have been effective for them, and two women found that
when they used fenugreek their supply seemed to go down, but when they used
goat's rue, or B or C or D, it went up. One person specifically mentioned
using Nature's Way brand for all the different herbs, a brand which I
consider to be reliable. So I find this report interesting. Did fenugreek
make the situation worse or just remove support for her? I don't know, and
I don't know exactly what the mechanism would have been. Fenugreek and
Goat's Rue even come from the same family and have similar properties,
though obviously are still different plants.

That just goes to show us that all these herbal galactogogues are NOT
created equal and cannot always be used interchangeably; it also shows that
sometimes it pays to try something different. This is also why I am a fan of
studying their properties and looking for some logic in how to choose and
use them. Every mother's situation, body, and underlying cause is different.
