My babies slept through the night (about 6 or 7 hours) from about 6 weeks until 4 months, and then didn't do it much again until 3 years old.

My oldest is going on 11, the next going on 8 and my youngest daughter is 5.  (My youngest is 2 and doesn't yet sleep through the night).  All of the older kids sleep just fine and don't seem to have suffered any ill effects from their "failure to sleep through the night."
