In response to Janice's remark...NOWHERE in the article is there even a
hint of suggestion that ANY mom's milk isn't "good enough for feeding". It
closes with this line "Dr. Weinberg cautioned that more research remains be
done before any nutritional recommendation can be made. He suggested that
in the future, similar genetic tests may help identify the women who need
to modify their diet to BETTER [emphasis is mine] the nutritional profile
of their breast milk." It is no secret that composition of milk varies
greatly among women. What harm if science advances to the point that
concrete nutritional advice could be given tailored to an individual
woman's need based on genetic make-up? Granted, there wasn't this option
for thousands of years. But there are also a lot of failure to thrive
babies and lots of mothers who would be more confident breast-feeding if
they could be assured that THEIR milk (as opposed to a general "breast milk
is best" really IS perfect. Personally, my milk was never "fatty". My
supply was fine, but my pumped milk was usually very thin looking with
barely any fat layer on top. It makes sense that there may be a genetic
factor. There is for everything else. Just my two cents.

>(wow, genetic testing will now tell moms who's breastmilk isn't "good
>enough" for feeding)

"When in despair, remember that all through history the way of truth and
love has always won; there have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time
they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall." Gandhi
