Good morning All,
I have a "HELP!" question from my good friend Karen Evon, IBCLC.

Mom is a multip, nursing a 2 year old
Had knee surgery one week ago and is confined to a chair, staionary.
Mom has history of psoriasis- covers 2/3 of body including areolas and
nipples, both breasts.
Mom is LLL many years
2 months ago she developed a crack at the base of one nipple.  She used
purified lanolin cream- problem resolved in one week.
Crack returned one week ago, same place.
Mom has tried puified lanolin cream, triple-antibiotic ointment and
cortizone- no change.
Other breast is fine and Mom nurses 2 yr old on demand on that breast.  Only
nurses 2 times per day on affected breast, but with great pain- Mom distracts
2 yr old whenever possible.
Mom sates that she is ready to call he OB and get a stitch in wound
She called Karen for ideas.  Karen suggested:
1) Shell in bra for air circ.
2) Hand express milk from affected breast as needed to avoid plugged
ducts/mastitis
3) Call Master Herbalist (friend and CLE) for ideas on healing salves/herbal
remedies

Help!! Any suggestions to treat breast/nipple psoriasis?  Ever heard of a
stitch in the base of nipple?  Would that even be a good idea?  Any other
thoughts would be much appreciated!
