Tammy,

I don't care how small your town is... there is always room for healthy
competition. And, to be honest, it actually feeds both practices. I have
been inducting new doulas for years here and it has only helped me build
my own practice. (I am myself an escapee of hospital politics.)

So, I would definitely not rule out a small private practice, along with
some volunteering at LLL or WIC or such. Your skills are valuable...
don't let anyone tell you "there's no need for them." Bah, I say.
That's humbug! If it were true your town would have a 95% breastfeeding
rate and most children there would be breastfed well beyond a year. Is
that the case? If not... you go girl!
