Lucretia is right. RNC is a designation for an RN who took a certifying
exam in an OB specialty thru NCC. I have mine in low risk newborn nursing.
I pursued that a couple of years before the IBCLC. I do maintain that
certification however, my passion is lactation consulting and is my "job" or
as I say, my true calling.

Subject: RN/IBCLC

When I worked as a hospital based LC I used RN, LC or RN, IBCLC (depending
on how much space and time I had to write :-) That was too many years ago
(1986-1991). Now I would use RN, IBCLC even if it meant using another line
on the chart. I think it is important to specify the IBCLC everywhere we
can, so people recognize it. You'll notice the docs on Lactnet and other
places use MD, IBCLC. I have almost as many initials as name :-)
Personally, the MA and GRMA mean the most :-) Pat in SNJ, where it is sunny
and HOT and somebody forgot spring!
PS:MA stands for mom and GRMA stands for Grandmom :-)
