I'm an IBCLC and RNC at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, FL. To fortify our babies we try and use as little bovine product as possible until after 34 weeks gestation...Anyone interested in the details of our protocols are welcome to them and can request off list at [log in to unmask] and I will forward them along. In a nutshell we use Mother's own milk with Prolacta +4, Prolacta +6, or Donor Human Milk 22 calorie and 24 calorie to supplement MOM as well as Ross HMF powder(bigger babies) and Beneprotein to fortify our human milk...there is a big push right now to get the powder out of the human milk and go towards a New liquid HMF...the RD and Neo working with me right now have some real concerns about the new product as it relates to protein, acid/base balance, and human milk volume displacement...we are looking for information from other centers, so I have put together a zoomerang survey to gather data for our own consumption not to be used for any publication...If you are not involved in the process of fortification for your NICU's please forward this request to the RD or IBCLC who is, it would be so greatly appreciated...
