I would say baby needs extra fluids, whether breastmilk or plain old water, 
start cup feeding.  I'd give him prunes and pears daily and start prune 
juice.  Hard, dry stools are not normal and eventually will cause 
discomfort/pain and cause withholding and then you get into another whole 
ball game :-(  Pat in SNJ
