Nikki,

Thanks for pointing out that great analogy about being stuck in a hospital
etc and not speaking the language.  It really does describe the situation of
the infant and for more that just feeding.  I had heard it some time ago,
but had forgotten it (or put it so far back in my mental closet that it
wasn't readily available).  There was a great cartoon in out paper
yesterday.  Two children and two adults are sitting in a restaurant and one
child says to the other, "When they tell us to act our age they really mean
to act their age."  Too often we interpret infant's or children's behavior
in our own terms instead of being sensitive to where they are coming from.
