Regarding the baby with bloody stools of unknown cause:

the following information may be helpful:

1.      de Boissieu D, Dupont C, Badoual J. Allergy to nondairy proteins in
mothers milk as assessed by intestinal permeability tests. ALLERGY,
49(10):882-4, 1994 Dec.

Very briefly:

Intestinal permeability tests detected breastmilk-induced changes in the
child's intestinal permeability which normalized after elimination of
egg and pork from the mother's diet.
