I am somewhat new to lactnet, and have been following the discussion
of engorgement with great interest. One thing that we probably all
agree on is that more research is needed. Something puzzles me though.
I have never recommended cabbage leaves, so I have no first hand
experience with it. However, there was a study published recently in
JHL which used cabbage leave extract in a double blind study. It was
not found to be any more effective than the placebo. Has there been
more research that I am not aware of? If the cabbage leaves have to
be cold, then aren't we simply applying cold compresses? Perhaps the
cabbage leaves are more acceptable for mothers to use than ice.

     Returning to lurking.
