I have been busy with 3 babies at a large metropolitan hospital which must
remain nameless--but whose name rhymes with weeders, feeders and
leaders--where 3 of my babies have been subject to some of the dumbest
medicine I have ever seen. And that's saying a lot.

All three have had questionable diagnoses made which then led to more tests,
medications, prolonged hospitalizations and interference with breastfeeding
and parent/baby interaction. None of the three needed what they got.

The terrible story of a few days ago represents the bad medicine and not the
results of early discharge. Virtually every single baby will benefit from
leaving the hospital as soon as possible with good follow up by a lactation
consultant and caring physician.

Pardon me if I have duplicated what has been said in other responses. I am
behind in my Lactnet reading right now.
