 Hi Chayn,

I can hear your concern over this baby having the frenulum clipped 4 times. It certainly seems excessive to me as well. I'm wondering if there wasn't a bit of a placebo effect going on here. Perhaps this mom thought that each time the frenulum was clipped she saw improvement, when in actuality the improvement was only after the first clipping. I really question any professional clipping 4 times however.

The sounds you describe the baby making sound like perhaps this baby has tracheal malasia. The constant nasal congestion mom mentions can go along with this as well. I'd suggest having a suck study done on this baby. If indeed the baby does have tracheal malasia, it would explain why she hears the same noises, and the baby has the same behaviors whether it is on breast or bottle. This definitely warrants a more thorough evaluation of the baby at breast.?

Please let us know how this turns out.

Warmly,

Sue Manore, IBCLC, RLC, LLLL
