One of the WIC moms has developed mastitis in the breast that had a cyst
surgically removed several years ago. The breast is lumpy; the other
breast is leaking, no engorgement. Baby is about 10 days old.
After describing breast massage, recommending alternating ice packs and
hot compresses, the mom feels some relief. Her fever was reduced; she's
been taking acetominaphen, but I though ibuprofen might help with the
inflammation.
Have any of you experienced this with "fibrocystic breasts", and how
likely is the mastitis to recur?
Thanks!
