Along with all of the useful tips mentioned I will often share this story.
I had been asked to do a sling demonstration for a group of Parent Educators
who where going to be giving slings to the moms that they work with. I
brought along my then 5 month old baby. I was wearing "regular" clothing --
slacks and a shirt. I was demonstrating a forward hold when my son started
fussing to nursing so I turned him into the cradle position while explaining
how I did that and started to nurse him. I then started talking about the
back carry position and said I would demonstrate it when he was done eating.
One of the educators expressed surprise that I was nursing right then! She
had no idea that while she was staring straight at me I had latched him on
and began feeding him LOL. Now if it is possible to be discreet under those
circumstance I am sure that little attention would be paid to me in the
middle of the supermarket :)
