Weighing in on this topic.  Like Gonneke in Holland, most mothers that I see
here have regular weight checks at a local Baby Clinic (weekly in the
beginning).   

A complete history (which includes these weights) and assessments is all
that is needed in most cases.  I rarely use my scale.  If weight gain is of
concern, I send them back to the Baby Clinic in a day or two and follow up
by phone.  It is more cost effective for the mother.  On the other hand, if
baby is due for a clinic weight check, I offer to do it to save mom an extra
outing.
