Baby of  a diabetic (gestational or Type 1) is a different situation than a 
simple  low sugar in a healthy full term new born.  Keep baby on drip, feed  
whatever colostrum she gets via pumping and continue IV until baby and mom  
can get together regularily.  Of course they will do the guilt trip  on her 
and tell her baby could get rid of IV sooner if she would just let  them 
formula feed :-(  Pat in SNJ 



Dear Friends:
    Seeing babies supplemented with human milk  substitutes who born to 
diabetic mothers makes me froth at the mouth. Here  is a baby already at risk to 
develop diabetes in its life from some genetic  susceptibility, and the medical 
professionals are increasing that risk!!
