I've never worked in a hospital, so don't know the politcs.  But I know visitors are limited in ICUs.  Why?  Because there's a clear health issue involved.  Maybe when hospitals begin to take normal infant feeding seriously - when mothers don't leave until their infants are feeding normally or until there's a precise home care plan in place to help them get there post-discharge - maybe then we'll see a limit on postnatal visitors.  Because there's a clear health issue involved.

I remember Chloe Fisher saying, in her lovely British voice, "A midwife's duty is not discharged until the mother is feeding her thriving child by the method of her choice."
