Thanks, Catherine for you discussions and your references thus far. I am
still mulling over my longer reply and my references, but I had to post
on the tree analogy.

The trees here are finally in full bloom. But 2 weeks ago when they were
still stark and bare but just pregnant with buds, I found myself
fascinated with their architecture as I was looking for ways to explain
something to a particular mother.

I actually went out and shot a whole roll of slides of various examples
of trees where I could visualize patterns of arborization that reminded
me of the ductal structure of breasts between babies! Just in case I ever
want to use one to illustrate a point!
