The size I've mostly used is the 10 cc syringe, though I keep some of both.  Works well - even with a Mum with no discernable demarkation between areola and nipple, and amorphous fatty plaques on nipple and areola.  For her I started with a 20 cc inverted syringe, and then switched to a 10 cc one, once I could actually see where the nipple was.  See:
