IBFAN states that 1.5 million babies die due to not breastfeeding.

http://www.ibfan.org/english/issue/overview01.html

UNICEF states "Improved breastfeeding practices and reduction of artificial
feeding could save an estimated 1.5 million children a year."

http://www.unicef.org/sowc01/maps/maps/map1nf.htm

UNICEF also states: "If all babies were fed only breastmilk for the first
six months of life, the lives of an estimated 1.5 million infants would be
saved every year and the health and development of millions of others would
be greatly improved."

http://www.unicef.org/ffl/04/index.html

INFACT Canada states "According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and
UNICEF about 1.5 million babies die every year because they were not
breastfed. Many more millions suffer from infectious diseases and
malnutrition, never reaching their full potential because they were
bottlefed."

Hope this helps.
