Thanks so very much for sharing your informal survey, Laurie. I have thought more than once about doing it. It is so hard to know when to say something before they go home.... at minimum I do usually talk about storage capacity and need for more frequent feeds. One mother was so at ease with nursing frequently and I was worried about her breasts making enough. She grabbed onto the nursing more frequently as her hope. On day 3-4 she called in due to no stools, but reported just starting to feel full and more voids and overall better feeds. Gave it one more day. Stools increased and she went on to nurse this baby and another over a year. However, I still remember she said she was nursing 15 times a day when she called in on day 3-4.... Such a very hard call on the phone! I did tell her to supplement if no stool over the next 24 hours, but this mom surprised me.
