And YES people are getting hurt.  Mothers and babies who think they are getting help form a qualified professional LC when they are not.  I see it every day.  And by the time they finally get to me... I have to undo so much misinformation... and by that time many mothers are at the end of their rope and about to give up.  You be it hurts!  And yes, I do lose sleep over this b/c I care about our profession and I care about the mothers and babies I help every day.  As do all of you.  Don't tell me to be on committees and task forces and everything else there is to do.  I'm spending hours talking to midwives, doulas, and others who think breastfeeding is completely in their hands--teaching them to refer. And spending hours blogging about what is true to try to dispel all of the many myths that are out there.  And then I spend quite a few hours actually helping moms breastfeed.
I've been in this field for 20 years and I can say this is becoming a bigger and bigger issue every year.  yep... people are getting hurt.
Respectfully,
Renee
