I spoke with a mother about this once, who complained she was always 
"drained" after breastfeeding and that's why she "had to" quit.

I regarded this as another unfortunate example of how the lack of basic 
knowledge can lead to unecessary weaning. Nobody was there to tell her that 
the relaxed, sleepy feeling during nursing is NORMAL, and good. She assumed 
-  or was told by her mother - that breastfeeding just "took too much out of 
  her." She figured that if nursing a newborn made drained her, it would 
only become more exhausting as the baby grew until she was totally depleted!
